THE STORY BEHIND CHAINYANA JEWELRY

In March of 2022 I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The signs had been there since I was 7 years old, but it took 26 years for me to be diagnosed. Sadly, it takes on average, 14 to 17 years for someone to receive an OCD diagnosis.

After learning that I had OCD, I participated in counseling and virtual group therapy sessions and learned the skills I needed to live with my OCD.  It was through my experience in this group that led to Chainyana Jewelry.

This virtual therapy group had women from all over the world coming together to learn, grow, and support each other with something that can be a daily struggle. It was in my group that I first learned of the acronym, YANA. You Are Not Alone.  I felt seen, understood, and supported.

I wanted to create a way for people to feel less alone in their struggle and to help lift up others as well. I wanted people to feel a direct connection to an actual person and it is with that goal in mind that I decided to use geographic coordinates.

Your struggle might be a mental health disorder or a cancer diagnosis. Maybe you are feeling lonely and you want to feel support from a greater community. Everyone faces difficult times and Chainyana creates a network of support for any struggle.

Wearing a Chainyana bracelet is saying: "I will carry you. I will carry your coordinates physically on my arm, and I will carry you with me in my heart. You are not alone. Additionally, I am grateful for the love that I will receive from the person carrying my coordinates. I am not alone."

I am thankful that you are here. I believe in what the power of connection through Chainyana bracelets can do and I hope that you believe in that power too.

With love & hope,

Katie
